Description:
One of two spoons with a pointed oval bowl, rounded shoulders, and fiddle-end handle, which is marked "G.C. MUNSELL" in a rectangle for Guy C. Munsell (1809-1884) and "PURE / COIN" and engraved with the intials "ECA" on the front of the handle. Munsell worked as a jeweler in Greenfield from c.1835-1850. In 1836, he married Amanda Day (b.1812) and they lived on a local farm. They moved to Amherst, Massachusetts, after 1850, and Guy Munsell was listed on subsequent census records as a farmer in Amherst.
