Description: Chinese export porcelain circular dessert plate with a pierced basket-weave, scalloped-edged rim and a molded weave design in the well. The well is decorated with evenly spaced floral sprays in the Famille rose palette of blue, rose, yellow, green, black, and iron red; the rim has a brown band. Both the plate design and decoration were developed at the Meissen factory circa 1745-1750 and copied by the Chinese for their export market . By the end of the 18th century, the Chinese were also copying a pierced basket-weave design found on English porcelain.
