Description: Chinese export porcelain spoon tray, part of a teaset made for the Danish market, decorated with an European man standing on a small land spit with a pagoda at the other end and pointing a gun at a bird flying in the sky over a three-masted sailing ship flying the Danish flag. Spoon trays were commonly used until about 1790, even though saucers were provided. The lobed-hexagonal shape of the spoon tray, also popular for tea stands, was indigenous to China.
