Description: Print titled "View of the Old House in Deerfield Which escaped Conflagration in 1704" also known as the Old Indian House or the Ensign John Sheldon House. This is possibly an illustration taken from the 1853 edition of "The Redeemed Captive" printed in Northampton, MA. Its printed title is different though. This house survived the attack on Deerfield in 1704. A campaign to save the house was mounted in 1848 but ultimately it was razed. The doorway and other architectural elements survive in the PVMA collection. This framed lithograph on wove paper depicts the Old Indian House, Deerfield, with a tall tree in the foreground.
