Description: Brown and yellow grain painted blanket chest over one drawer with stamped brass pulls. The grain painting on the front, sides, and lid of the chest are set within square-shaped panels with concave corners, which are outlined in yellow simulating line or string inlay. The lid, composed of a single board, features applied double-bead moldings along its front and side edges, and is secured to the case with two metal strap hinges. The front and back of the case are rabbeted and nailed to the sides, and the front of the case features a locking mechanism with an oval-shaped brass escutcheon for securing the lid. The back of the case is composed of two horizontal boards that are nailed into place at the sides. The front and side edges of the base, just above the feet, are decorated with applied moldings. The case sits on four bracket feet, and features a cyma-curve shaped skirt.
