Description:
Pair of women's white slippers, ca. 1835-1850, with a heel and elastic strap added about 1860. The shoes feature a squared throat opening and toe shape. The heel height is 1.875". An ink inscription written on the sole may read "rle, 6 2". These slippers descended in the Rotch family of New Bedford, Massachusetts, area, and may have been made in either the North or South shore areas of the state.
