Description: Ensemble of a dress with matching coat worn by Helen Geier Flynt (1895-1986) during the 1960s. Helen, along with her husband Henry N. Flynt (1893-1970), founded the Heritage Foundation, later Historic Deerfield, in 1952. The coat features three quarter-length (or bracelet length) sleeves and is cut straight, with non-functional flap pockets at the hips. The matching, sleeveless sheath dress is cut straight but with a higher waistline. A label marks the maker as “Janet Sloane custom made clothes.” Helen owned at least one other garment made by Sloane's firm; see HD 2019.31.10.
