Description:
One of a set of eight prints depicting silk dyeing in France. This image depicts a river dyeing operation for silk yarn. Access to water sources was important for 18th-century dyeing of fabric and yarns. In the case of silk, water cleaned the fibers before dyeing. Plate I in the series, it is drawn by Radel, engraved by Robert Bernard.
