Description:
Key used to lock the door at the time Deerfield's schoolhouse (built 1839) in the Wapping section closed. Wapping schoolhouse was moved to the center of Deerfield (at the north end of The Street) in 1968 by Henry and Helen Flynt, the founders of Historic Deerfield. The last schoolteacher to instruct at the school before it was moved was Ethel Astley Morrissey, the grandmother of the donors.
