Description:
Thrown yellowware mug with straight sides, base has molded profile, two incised bands below the upper rim, applied strap handle with mid rib, decorated with a blackish-gray colored glaze in vertical stripes down the sides of the mug, chips out of the top edge of the mug, and some cracks. Possibly part of the Burton Gates Collection. Gates notecard for #197 reads: "Mug, straight side, handled, incised rings. Stoneware. Glaze/ inside. yellow, crackled: outside, same with black vertical bands or stripes/ 5" x 4" base. Carefully shaped./ Bot. Osborn, Phil. Dec. 1914. who pronounced New Jersey Product."
