Description:
Thrown, salt-glazed, 1 gallon? ovoid vessel with pulled handle, scribe line just below the spout, jug is covered all over in splotchy, light brown Albany slip, the shoulder area under the spout is impressed "CHARLESTOWN," Condition: large areas of surface pitting along the body of the jug. This object was part of the Burton N. Gates Collection. The Gates notecard for this object reads "151/ Jug. Stoneware. 9 1/2 in./ Marked CHARLESTOWN impressed type 2 3/4in./ long."
