Description:
Molded yellowware pie plate, with steep sides, and circular well, covered with streak and sponging in a brown Rockingham glaze, a lot of wear marks on the bottom of the dish from use, painted on bottom of plate in red paint, “170” in circle and impressed mark, “[WA]RRANTED/ [OVENPR]OOF” Formerly part of the Burton N. Gates Collection. Original Gates notecard for this object reads, "Rockingham Glaze Pie plate./ Mark. WARRANTED FIRE PROOF impressed 1 1/4" x 3/4" Resembles Bennington/ in color and surface of glaze/ Thick portions metalic./ col. 1913, Rochester, N. H. by B.N.G."
