Description:
Thrown, red earthenware jar, tall, cylindrical form with flat bottom, turned edge to base, straight sides, slanted or angled shoulders, flaring rim, covered all over in an orange lead glaze with some flecks of manganese, inscribed on bottom in red paint, “26.” Formerly part of the Burton N. Gates Collection. Original Gates notecard for this object reads, "Jar./ Col. by Daniels in Southbridge 1911 Brilliant glaze inside & outside red clay. no cover./ specks 7 in."
