Description:
Straight-sided, tall jar with canted shoulders, narrow neck, and wide circular mouth, rim of jar is indented to receive a lid, no lid exists, covered with lead glaze, surface has splotches of orange and olive green over the surface. Marked in red paint on the underside of the base, "153" twice. There is some glaze loss. This jar was formerly in the Burton N. Gates Collection. Gates notecard for this object reads "153/ Jar. Red clay. Mottled glaze. 7 " high x 3 3/4 base Col. by J. F. Daniels, who removed it from the rear of a fireplace in the Walker Bldg, 405 Main N. Wor, 1916, during repairs, possible of Wor. Pottery origin."
