Description:
Richard Lee, Jr. worked in various eastern states from 1770-1820, but is usually described as a Springfield, Vermont, pewterer. He made many porringers of various shapes, including this example with a geometric handle. Cast pewter porringer taster with geometric handle, top of handle is stamped "RICHARD.LEE"; handle is pierced with five holes, pewter bowl has slight bump in its center, modern label on back of porringer, reads "98037" and dealer's label reads: American pewter 2 3/4", diam. taster porringer, marked by Richard Lee, Mass. & Vt., c. 1840. J#199/ $XXXX/ 1406/D125."
