Woodcut map of North and South America, showing parts of Asia and Africa from Munster's edition of Ptolemy's Geographia. The alternate title is "Le Table des Isles Neuses." Map first published in Basle in 1540, and used by Munster in subsequent atlases. This map is one of the earliest printed maps to depict Japan (Zipangri). Shows the false Sea of Verrazano nearly dividing North America in half. Taken from a French language edition of Munster's Cosmographia. Text on verso: Le Monde Nouveau le quel Continent. Later color; slight water staining at top margin not affecting printed surface.
