Description:
Pieced, cotton quilt laid out in blocks of a diamond within a star design and three sides of made of vertical stripes made up of floral-patterned, copper-printed cotton primarily in browns, red, pink and blue, and with two cutout corners to fit around bed posts; orange cotton backing with the initials, "SSS" (not yet identified); and cotton batting. The quilt was given to the donor by her mother-in-law, May Standish Merritt who married Earl Whetford Merritt in 1929. The quilt came from May Merritt's mother, Leila Hatch Paine (b.1870).
