Description:
Needlework sampler done in silk embroidery on a wool ground, with the inscription, "Claudine henry / 1820." The sampler has two birds flanking the verse, "A Mon Cher Parrain / Je porte toujours dans mon coeur / L'image de celui qui J'aime / Sa Presense fait mon bonheur / Sa vie m'est plus que moi meme;" over the image of staf flanked by flower sprays; over an acanthus-like band along the bottom edge. The sampler has a four-sided flower and vine border.
