Description: Walking stick or cane said to have been owned by David Smith, Jr. (1757-1814) of West Springfield, Massachusetts, the son of David Smith (1737-1804) and Margaret Day Smith (1730-1803), during Shay's Rebellion, which was an armed uprising in central and western Massachusetts (mainly Springfield) from 1786 to 1787 named after Daniel Shays, a veteran of the American Revolutionary war.
