Description: Stand with one drawer, which was consigned to a local auction from the estate of Eleanor Sheldon Bruce of Deerfield. It is thought to have originated in the Williams and Dickinson families of Deerfield, said to have been a part of the furnishings of the Moors House, now owned by Historic Deerfield. The two-piece cherry top with rounded edges is screwed from the underside to the frame. The plain top and bottom front rails, sides and back are attached to the straight, tapered legs with mortise and tenon joints reinforced with glue blocks. The cherry drawer front with its wood pull overhangs the recessed lower front rail, and is attached with fine dovetails to the pine drawer sides; the back is also joined to the sides with fine dovetails. The pine drawer bottom is fitted into grooves in the front and sides, and is butted and nailed to the back.
