Description: One of a pair of stamped brass, oval mirror knobs with an enamel portrait of a woman with an elaborate hat and coiffure, mounted on copper. Mirror knobs were used to support a wall mounted mirror from below. The woman's image appears to be transfer printed on to the enamel and then colored with blue, pink, and yellow enamels. The stamped metal surrounding the enamel plaque has two rows of beading, and was once gilded brass that has been overpainted with gold powders. Some of the gold paint has been applied to the enamel plaque. Both knobs have metal shanks with threaded tips made of iron. One of the knobs has a horizontal hairline crack through the enamel.
