Description: One-piece white (printed?) sheer dress (slip missing), worn by Cathleen Esleeck (nee Clare) for a dance sponsored by Bement School on May 28, 1937. The event, held at the Frary House, was photographed for Life Magazine. The dress was made for her (by hand?) by a dressmaker from Athol, Massachusetts, named Mrs. Richardson. This garment illustrates the continued use of dressmakers for the creation of important, occassion-specific garments by some women and their families.
