Description: Fragment of quilted fabric with the top layer printed with small floral sprigs and stems in black, brown, and and light brown (originally yellow?) against a white-off-white ground. The lighter brown is printed without a black outline regularly between the sprigs. This design may have been achieved through coppering, a thin wire of copper. The next layer is an off-white wool batting. The bottom layer is a half-bleached or unbleached, plain weave linen or cotton. The stitching that quilts the three layers is in an 'S' twist, and forms an alternating chevron pattern. The printed cotton is seamed in one area; the smaller piece being 2 1/8" wide.
