Description: Silver tablespoon with a long elliptical bowl and a deep creased rounded drop, straight hemispherical shaft tapered to slighly downturned rounded-end handle, and short midrib on back of handle tip. The spoon is marked "I.T" in square for Jonathan Trott, Jr. (1771-1813), and engraved with the initials "A+W" in block letters on the front of the handle. Both Jonathan Trott, Jr. and his brother John Proctor Trott (1769-1852) and trained with their father, silversmith Jonathan Trott (1730-1815), originally of Boston who moved to Norwich, Connecticut, from 1781-c.1785, where he operated a tavern, and to New London from c.1785 until his death where he resumed his profession as jeweler. Jonathan Jr. worked in Norwich around 1785, and moved to New London where he advertised in 1800. His brother also worked in New London.
