Description:
Brush with wooden handle and animal hair bristles, used to coat insides of molds with red or yellow ochre sometimes mixed with egg white to prevent the hot metal from adhering to the mold. It was found in the tool chest of Samuel Pierce (1767-1840) who worked as a pewterer in Greenfield, which came from the collection of Ledlie Irwin Laughlin.
