Description: Set of eight moon-shaped crescents with four pink brocade swags and fringe for four windows. These were based on similar crescents installed by Joseph Downs and his staff for the American Wing in the NYC Metropolitan Museum of Art in the mid to late 1930s. The 1942 edition of "A Handbook of the American Wing" describes them as: "The design of the window draperies is from one of the plates of a series issued periodically by Pierre de la Mesangere, under the titile "Collection - Meubles et objets de gout." The plate showing "Draperies de Croisees, " is no. 309, dated 1809."
