Description: One of a pair of painted tin lamps, which have been electrified, which was repainted by Ruth Hatch of Deerfield in the early 20th century. In the northeastern United States between about 1825-1850, stenciling might be found on almost any surface. Walls and floors, desks, table, chairs, boxes, tineware, window curtains, coverlets, tablecloths and even clothing accessories were subject to the stenciler's stubby brush.
