Description: One of a pair of demi lune card tables in mahogany with folding tops, decorated with inlays of a compass star on the center front of the curved apron; three ovals in a column on top of the legs; crossed vines on the two side panels of the apron; and stringing and collars on the four straight, tapered legs. These tables have been attributed to Thomas Howard, Jr. (1774-1833) of Rhode Island because the vines are similar to ones found on a server attributed to Howard, but the other inlays do not appear in Howard's work. The tables have also been attributed to Robert Townsend of Newport. "21669" is written in chalk on the back and underside of the table. The inlay is possibly holly.
