Description:
Visual description: A group of Black football players huddle together in this black and white vertical photograph. Viewed from below, the young men are tightly clustered with their heads filling the entire image. The athletes are wearing protective light leather helmets and dark jerseys, with one player prominently displaying the number ninety-nine. With their heads tilted at different angles, the men’s facial expressions vary from wide grins to more focused looks. Seven of the nine players’ faces are fully captured, while two without helmets are cropped out at the upper and left margins. A wooden plank diagonally obscures the bottom right corner.
