Label Text: The changes taking place in Tokyo after the city was rebuilt in the late 1920s were of endless fascination for the young Kageyama. In an image that he titled Erotic Grotesque Nonsense, a term coined to capture the charged atmosphere of the day in all its variations, he photographs a group of revue girls in glittering costumes (Erotic) surrounding a man who has no legs (Grotesque), at the Casino Follies, the popular revue in Asakusa frequented by unemployed businessmen who had lost their jobs in the Great Depression (Nonsense).
