Label Text: This print is signed at upper-right in green "Hirosada." The actor's role is identified at upper-left. The Umbrella Monster ("Kasa obake") is a popular figure from Japanese folklore who figures in many separate stories. While both one- and two-legged varieties exist, the monster almost always has only one eye and is a terrifying figure. Another impression of this design is held by the Metropolitan Museum, New York (acc. no. 2011.147).
