Description: vertical ōban triptych; nishiki-e; sensō-e
Label Text: This triptych is signed at lower-right of the right panel "Ryūa." Directly beneath the signature is the artist's seal, which reads "Edokko," a term for someone born and raised in Tokyo, which literally means "child of Edo." At lower-left of the left panel is the publisher's seal of Fukuda Hatsujirō, who published many unserialized triptychs of the Russo-Japanese War by the likes of Kiyochika, Kyōko, and Kihō (also know as Terukata). Fukuda's seal also notes the date of issue as March, 1904 (Meiji 37).
Like several other of the Mead's sensō-e of the Russo-Japanese War, this impression is numbered "12" in kanji at lower-right of the right panel. - BB 2013
