SKINNER CATALOGUE: A section of earthenware water pipe, made from red clay, now much darkened. There is a section of a small pipe loose within the large pipe, evidently having been put in for firing, and now warped so that it cannot be removed. Both pieces are flat on the bottom, otherwise rounded in section. Original dimensions probably were: length 12", outside diam. 5" and 2 1/2", bore 4" and 1 3/4". The piece comes from one of the Crafts Potteries in Whately, MA, which operated from sometime in the late 40's to about 1860, and was destroyed by fire. Presented by Lura Woodside Watkins. Cat. 9/16/1936
