Description:
Powder horn engraved with scenes of several masted sailing vessels (schooners, ships), rivers, trees, whales, mermaids, and ships as well as a fort. Inscribed "THOMAS JOLLEY/ HIS MAKE IN/ 1768" Given the maritime imagery, a possible maker of this powder horn could be Thomas Jolley of Harwich, MA, who married Mary Capen of Harwich, MA on January 11, 1759, and participated in the American Revolution.
