Description:
Map of the Western Hemisphere. Includes inset map of Greenland titled The Northerly Part of Ameica. Flanking the map on left and right are 10 representations of native people of the Americas (e.g., "Virginian," "K[ing] of Newe England"). Along the top margin are views of Havanna, Mexico City, Cartagena, and five other locations. Map from the atlas, A Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of the World (London, 1626). Engraved in London by Abraham Goos of Amsterdam. Below title cartouche: "To be sold by Thomas Bassett in Fleet Street, and by Richard Chiswell in St. Pauls Churchyard." The Bassett/Chiswell edition of the atlas was issued in 1676.
