Awarded the Mead’s Wise Prize in 2019, this video installation, The Running, by Camila Dominquez ’19 emerged from their senior thesis on athletics at Amherst as a “dominant social force on campus.” Juxtaposing footage from YouTube of mass protests in Caracas, Venezuela, in 2017 with screen captures of a women’s relay race at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Dominquez explores the two worlds of sports and politics.
