Description:
Funerary scene. The mouth, neck, and handle of this lekythos, or oil flask, are black glazed. Below is an egg-and-dart pattern between two thin black lines. A pattern of palmettes and tendrils fills the entire shoulder, bordered on top and bottom by red lines. The main field on the body of the vase shows two female figures to the right and left of a tomb; a red band forms the lower edge or groundline of the scene. The garment of the female at left is missing; although traces of lines are still discernible. The acroterion atop the tomb intrudes into the meander pattern above. The handle side of the vase was left undecorated. The foot is a thick torus shape, glazed in black on the top surface and left reserved on the side.
