Label Text:
A self-taught photographer, Álvarez Bravo was interested in subjects ranging from the nude form to folk art. This photograph provides the viewer with an intimate glimpse into a routine moment of private reflection and personal care. The play of light and dark over the woman’s face and body, however, gives this photograph an impression of mystery and drama.
