Description:
Map titled "A General Map of the Middle British Colonies in America" which is a pirated version of Lewis Evans' map (Philadelphia, 1755) of the same title. Map extends from Boston on the east to present-day Indiana on the west, and from Virginia on the south to Montreal on the north. Inset: "A Sketch of the remaining part of Ohio R. &c." Includes 3 tables of distances between cities/settlements, and text exhorting the British Crown not to let the French through their "usurpation and boundless ambition" take control of the Ohio Valley. Notes on the face of the map describe the region's Native Americans, geology, and topography.
