Description:
According to the original accession card: Burt family bible, dated 1708, inscribed with the names of various members of the family including, it is believed, the Boston silversmith. "Bought att Amsterdam, Jan. 1716 for 13 gilders. John Burtt/ His Book August 1717/ Susanne Howland 1805/ Born 1752 died 1824 aged 72/ Bequested to Elizabeth Burt Brinekerhopp by Susanna Howland 1822." There is a newspape clipping quoting a will of Abigail Cheever, widow, dated 1750, probated 1753. The clipping gives the following information: "Abigail Burt was wife of John Burt, and their daughter Abigail married Nathaniel Howland of 1704, and is probably buried at Copp's Hill. See monument to Francis and Sarah (Burt) Shaw."
