Description:
vertical ōban triptych; nishiki-e

Label Text:
This print is signed "Gakyōjin" vertically descending at lower middle-right of the right panel. Beneath the signature are two red seals. The seal in the square cartouche is as of yet unidentified but is likely a publisher's seal, which appears to read "Matae." The flower-shaped seal is that of the wooblock carver, also currently unidentified, which reads "Sawa hori" ('carved by Sawa'). This print also bears a serial number — 24 — in the lower-right corner of the right panel. Several other of the Mead's prints of the Russo-Japanese War have similar markings.
