Description:
The crumbling ancient structure of Domitian's Temple of Pallas, located near his forum in Rome, integrated into newer medieval/early modern buildings. Figures of men, women, and a dog are seen in the foreground, as well as in the street that recedes diagonally back in the right side of the image. Beneath the image is an inscription with the title and a key to the numbered structures, identifying the architecture depicted:

1: Chiesa di S. Agata dei Tessitori [The Church of Saint Agatha of Weavers] (also called S. Maria in Macello Martyrum [Saint Mary of the Slaughter of the Martyrs])

2: Strada Alessandrina [the Via Alessandrina]

3: Tempio della Pace dalla parte opposta [The Temple of Peace on the opposite side] (actually the4th century Basilica of Maxentius)
