Description:
In the oval-shaped basin of the locks at Dolo, a burchiello (passenger barge) lies moored to the quay. The rooted stone structure spanning the lock gates provides protection for the wooden gates and access to the lock mechanism. On the left, the partial facade of a corner house with a cartouche with coat of arms, a hanging sign and shrine on the wall. Within an archway, a butcher sits surrounded by carcasses. In front, a woman at a table makes pillow-lace on her tombolo (lace-pillow). Two houses on the right. A fruit vendor and groups of figures in the foreground.
