Label Text:
This wooden box, or cofre, exhibits decorative motifs consisting of coffers and geometric forms that divide the composition into its component parts. The largest of these appear on the box's face, where rectangles filled with ornate decoration are surrounded by triangular pieces, thereby creating two starburst forms. The box's rich palette of gold, white, red, green, and black enhances its jewel-like appearance.
